Clean the Plastic Well

Sand with an Extremely Fine Grit Sandpaper

For this reason, use fine grit sandpaper for this purpose. Sanding is necessary for sticking the paint on the surface.
For plastic made things, it is not necessary to use primer before painting. Plastic itself is very adhesive to paint, but you have to choose special paint for painting on plastic.
Wipe the Surface
Wipe the surface for removing all the residues left after sanding. You can use a wet cloth to wipe the surface. After wiping, you must ensure the dryness of the plastic made thing.
Tape off some Portions
Then you must use some tapes to cover the portion that will be painted. By taping, you are ensuring that the portion that will not be painted must be kept intact during the painting process. Never be over confident about not being painted on those portions as you may paint them accidentally.
Choose the Right Paint
For painting on plastic, you will have to ensure the suitable paint, otherwise the paint will peel or smear off quickly. Ask the hardware keepers for the dedicated paint for plastic. They will guide you perfectly. Listen to them and buy the perfect paint. Choose the color yourself as per your preference.
Use a Paint Sprayer
For painting on plastic, you must use a paint sprayer for the best result. It is not recommended that you use roller or brush for painting on plastic. Spray well on the plastic surface by following thee spraying guidelines mentioned in the paint sprayer manual.
After painting completely, leave the plastic for at least 24 hours to dry the paint.
Use Seals
Though this is optional after painting, you should use this to give longer lasting to the paint as well as have shining color. After sealing, give wealth of time to dry that completely.
Remove the Tape
