Ways on Prepping a Room for Paint

There are always ways for you to save time and avoid destruction through correct ways of preparation. Actually, there are steps in painting that are popularly used although there is this least favorite step for painting process which is the “Prep” and second to this is clean up. But even if there is such kind of least favorite thing, you always have to make the job for painting correctly. So, if you are planning to have your room painted, here are ways that will surely give you the best result you are expecting.

1.Inspect the Space

It is always important for you to inspect the spaces that you are going to paint. Before you move anything on your space, it is always essential that you should walk inside the whole place with friends, customers or any of the family members.

What should be pointed out When Inspecting the place?

When inspecting the place, you should point out several areas that have paints on it and it does not really belong to the room such as furniture, wooden floors and carpets knick knacks and lamps. It should be pointed out too those things with breakage. It is important to notice those inappropriate used type or the color of paint. One great idea is to record a video of the room and review it. In such way, you will be able to see what things with should not belong to the group. If you want to have a clean painting result, then do the right process in inspecting the space.

2.Move the Furniture

In moving the furniture, one person cannot do this alone. There should be two or more person in order to move those heavy sofas, recliners and chairs. Those tables and beds can also be moved into another place. You may also move away those important things like books, tabloids, newspapers and magazines.

3.Create a Chain of Islands

There are some people when you are using a roller or extension pole in painting out the ceiling area. It is always good to move all of those materials when painting so that there will be no hindrance. You must have an idea for a chain of Islands for the stuffs that you are not going to move out one the room instead of creating amount of furniture on the center of the room. In this way, you will be able to minimize the space for a comfortable feeling while painting.

4.Take Down Wall Hangings

It is always part of prepping to paint a room that the wall hangings should be removed. Usually as what you can notice, most walls have pictures, paintings, and other wall decors. In this way, there will be no hanging materials on your wall that can be painted out.

5.Turn off the Power

Safety should always come first in everything that you are going to do. When painting, the painter should also not forget to turn off the power or turn off all circuit breakers of the room. Always see for yourself if you have already turned off the power especially when you are going to use a latex paint since a latex paint is another great conductor of electricity. So always keep safe by means of turning off all electricity outlets.

6.Dust the Walls

Dusting of the walls is another essential step for prepping. Scrubbing the walls with water and soap is not the most ideal step for making the wall clean before painting. Instead of wasting time in scrubbing, just simply wipe of the dusty part of the walls with a dry cloth. If you wipe of the dust, you will simply save time and effort in cleaning the wall.

7.Tape off the Wall

Prepping a room for painting always require a lots of preparation for you to do. Always remember that these things are very important to take note especially in keeping the floor safe from any paint drop in painting the wall and ceiling. If ever that you will be using blue painter’s tape, it will always depend on what you are doing. You may use a standard masking tape and be able to tape the floor or carpet along the baseboard.
In using the standard masking tape, you should keep in mind that it should not stay on the carpet or floor in more than two days because it will be very difficult to remove. Blue painters will be the best option to make when taping a wooden floor. This kind masking tape loose easily when used. After that, you are ready to put the drop cloth or papers to start painting.
All of these prepping ideas will always be a good guide in keeping things well organized for your painting plans. After doing all of these prepping idea, you will already have a nice way of comfortable painting job.
